 PARKS
                   
3         -           Mower Operators- $8.50 plus DOE

Applicant must be 18 years old with valid Mt. Drivers License. Positions are available April through September. Must be dependable, mechanically inclined, have good hand eye coordination with a working knowledge of ground care equipment.  Agriculture, Landscaping, Const. background is a plus. Operators are assigned regular routes throughout the City’s Park System. Schedules are M-F 6:00am – 2:30 pm.

6         -           Park Attendants- $8.25  

Applicant must be 18 years old with valid Mt. Drivers License. Positions are available April through September. Must be dependable, mechanically inclined, have good hand eye coordination with a working knowledge of ground care equipment.  Agriculture, Landscaping, Const. background is a plus. Responsibilities include grounds maintenance, irrigation, restrooms, spray grounds, picnic shelters, playgrounds, etc. Should be physically fit enough to move picnic tables, rake, shovel, trim shrubbery and/or trees as it pertains to parks. Schedules are varied M-F, F-T,W-S 6:00am-2:30pm, 2:30pm – 10:30pm.

2         -           Amend Park Soccer Field Maintenance - $12.00 plus DOE

This is a 40 hour a week seasonal position of up to 132 days per year.  Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with the operation in a safe and effective manner of hand tools, power tools, and small and medium heavy equipment used in grounds keeping, turfgrass maintenance, automatic irrigation systems, and landscape construction.  Individual must have the ability to often work in the absence of immediate supervision, and to work as a member of a crew under direct supervision of a senior crew member. Employee must have the experience and ability to safely perform a variety of assigned tasks properly and efficiently.

2           -           Grounds Maintenance Positions - $8.50/hour

                                  
Seasonal Employment 4/1/2008 - 9/30/2008.  Must be 18 years of age
                                   or older, possess a valid driver's license, have a working knowledge
                                   of ground care equipment and be able to work with the general public.

 
RECREATION  (all positions listed are seasonal summer jobs June-Aug unless noted)

 

1          -           Summer Registration Assistant - $7.75/hour

Applicant’s duties will involve dealing with the general public, handling walk-in customers, answering phones, learning and using applicable computer software for program registrations, and general knowledge of modern office equipment.  Candidates will have to work independently to cover lunch breaks and will assist senior office staff with work duties as they relate to programs and department information.
 

1          -           Aquatics Director - $9.75/hour

This position is responsible for the daily coordination of the swimming pool operation for the City.  Must be able to work closely with the Recreation Supervisor and the Recreation Superintendent.  Responsibilities include supervision, evaluation, and daily coordination of the pool managers, administration and daily supervision of the cashiers, and mechanical inclination for the daily operations of the pool.  Previous aquatic experience in a supervisory position desired.

5          -           Pool Manager - $9.25/hour

Directly responsible for the daily operations of municipal swimming pools, including but not limited to:  staff scheduling, supervision and evaluation, mechanical inclination, fiscal accountability, 1st Aid and CPR and public relations.  Applicant must be a good communicator and possess strong leadership capabilities.  Pool managers are responsible for providing facilities that are clean, efficient and safe for all patrons.  The pool manager reports directly to Aquatics Director.  Previous experience in swimming pool management desired.

40        -           Lifeguards - $8.75/hour

Applicants must possess current certification in Lifeguard Training from the American Red Cross or equivalent, and a current CPR and 1st Aid certification.  Guard suits are provided and incentives are available for reimbursement of certification costs and for duration of seasonal employment.  Lifeguard applicants are required to be reliable, dependable, confident, and energetic and are responsible for providing a clean and safe environment for recreational swimming.  Lifeguards must demonstrate a no-nonsense attitude and understand the importance of public safety.  Lifeguards will report directly to the Pool Managers.

4          -           Pool Maintenance - $6.50/hour

This position starts in early May.  Applicants must be mechanically inclined, have a flexible schedule and be willing to work hard.  This position is responsible for overall clean-up, repair, and mechanical preparation for the opening of the municipal swimming pools in June.

 1          -           Learn to Swim Supervisor - $8.25/hour

Reports directly to the Aquatics Director and Recreation Supervisor.  Responsible for coordinating the entire swimming lesson program.  Applicant must demonstrate good leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, organizational and administrative skills including staff scheduling, evaluations, and public relations.  Learn to Swim Supervisor is responsible for on-site job training and certification completion for all instructors.  Previous experience of at least three years teaching and/or supervising swimming lessons is desirable.

10        -           Learn to Swim Instructor - $8.00/hour

Applicants must possess current CPR and 1st Aid certification through the American Red Cross or equivalent.  Instructors are responsible for providing a positive and safe pool environment conducive to learning.  Applicants must possess excellent communication skill, energetic personalities and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Instructors are required to be leaders and must be excellent role models for children.  The City of Billings will provide the certification and training for the Learn to Swim program.

4          -           Learn to Swim Aides - $6.50/hour

Entry-level position, which assists and works under the direction of the lead instructors in the Learn to Swim instructional swim classes.  Must demonstrate an outgoing and energetic personality while showing the ability to work closely and patiently with children.

3                      Water Exercise Instructor - $13.00 - $15.00/hour DOE and Certifications

Applicants must have a minimum of one year prior experience in teaching senior exercise or water exercise classes.  Primary fitness certification or equivalent desirable.  Lifeguard certification preferable or current CPR and 1st Aid certification through the American Red Cross or equivalent.  Instructors must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities and the ability to work closely and patiently with participants and senior adults.

9          -           Pool/Concessions Cashier - $6.50/hour

Applicants must be trustworthy and reliable.  Cashiers are responsible for daily admissions, season pass sales, nightly deposits, audits and crowd control.  Must demonstrate good math skills, legible handwriting, organizational skills, and patience, while displaying a friendly and courteous attitude.

1          -           Batting Cage Manager – $8.00/hour

This position is responsible for the daily coordination of the Strike Zone Batting Cage operation for the City.  Must be able to work closely with the Recreation Supervisor and the Recreation Superintendent.  Responsibilities include supervision, evaluation and daily coordination of the Batting Cage Attendants, administration of the revenue management, and mechanical inclination for the daily operations of the facility. Previous experience in management position desired.

4          -           Batting Cage Attendant – $7.00/hour

Applicants must be trustworthy and reliable.  Attendants are responsible for daily token and punch card sales, concessions sales, nightly deposits, audits, equipment inspections and for presenting a clean and safe facility each day of operation.  Must demonstrate good math skills, legible handwriting, organizational skills, and mechanical ability, while displaying a friendly and courteous attitude.

2          -           Summer Camp Bus Driver – $9.50/hour

Requirements include a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Passenger Endorsement.  Responsible for safe and efficient transportation of children involved in a variety of summer camp/programs.  Must be reliable, professional, and courteous.  Previous experience driving buses for children desired.

2          -           Cheerleading Camp Instructors – $7.00/hour

Instructors are responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for children.  Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities, and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Required to be leaders and must be excellent role models for children.  Must be at least 16 years old.  Job duties will include basic skills and fundamental techniques for cheerleading.

1          -           Recreation Site Supervisors - $7.50/hour

Directly responsible for the daily coordination of recreation programs and activities, including but not limited to: staff scheduling, supervision and evaluation, 1st aid and CPR, and public relations.  Applicant must be a good communicator and possess strong leadership capabilities.  Site Supervisors are responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for children.  Must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities, and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Applicants are required to be leaders and must be excellent role models for children.  Previous experience with children’s programs, planning, and supervision desired.

10        -           Recreation Instructors/Camp Counselors - $7.00/hour

Instructors are responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for children.  Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities, and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Required to be leaders and must be excellent role models for children. Previous experience with children programs desired.

1          -           Tennis Instruction Supervisor - $10.00/hour

Directly responsible for the daily coordination of tennis instructional program and activities, including but not limited to; staff scheduling, supervision and evaluation, 1st Aid and CPR, and public relations.  Applicant must be a good communicator and posses strong leadership capabilities. Responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for children.  Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Required to be leaders and must be excellent role models for children.  Five years of previous tennis playing and/or coaching experience required and experience with children programs, planning and supervision desired.  Supervisor will be required to attend and complete a USTA coaches clinic.

8          -           Tennis Instructors - $8.50/hour

Instructors are responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for children.  Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities and ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Required to be leaders and must be excellent role models for children.  This position requires applicants with at least two years of coaching and/or playing experience.  Instructors will concentrate on teaching basic skills and fundamentals of the game of tennis including the general rules of play.  Instructors will be required to attend and complete a USTA coaches clinic.

2          -           Skateboard Instructors - $7.50/hour

Instructors are responsible for providing a positive and safe environment for children.  Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, energetic personalities and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Applicants are required to be leaders and must be excellent role models for children.  Applicant must be a least 16 years old.  Job duties will include safe skating rules, proper equipment, and sportsmanship.  Applicant will teach basic skills and fundamental techniques for beginner and intermediate skateboard lessons.

4          -           Art Instructors - $8.00 - $12.00/hour

Applicants must have experience in arts and enrichment activities, which may include watercolor painting, calligraphy, cartooning, technical drawing, and sketching.  Must possess excellent communications skills, energetic personalities, and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Previous positions as an art or enrichments instructor desired.

4          -           Enrichment Instructors - $8.00 - $12.00/hour

Applicants must have experience in arts and enrichment activities, which may include outdoor education, canoeing, flying fishing, and digital photography.  Must possess excellent communications skills, energetic personalities, and the ability to work closely and patiently with children.  Previous positions as an art or enrichments instructor desired.
