Decoration of
Graves
The ground planting of flowers by a lot
owner is not permitted. The City shall have the
authority to remove all floral designed,
flowers, weeds, trees, shrubs, plants or herbage
of any kind at any time. The City shall not be
liable for floral pieces, baskets or frames to
which floral pieces are attached. The City shall
not be liable for the loss, misplaced or broken
flower containers. The City shall not be
responsible for plants, herbage or plantings of
any kind damaged by the elements, thieves,
vandals, or by other causes beyond its control.
The city reserves the right to prevent removal
of any flowers, floral designed, trees, shrubs,
or plants or herbage of any kind unless
expressed written consent is given by the City.
The placing of boxes, shelves, toys, metal
designs, ornaments, chairs, settees, glass, wood
or iron cases, and similar articles upon graves
and lots shall not be permitted, and if so
placed, the city may remove the same and destroy
at the City Landfill.
Flower Containers
No more than two containers on each grave shall
be allowed in the older sections. In the newer
sections, a flower container will be places in
the footing of a marker or monument as per
specifications and drawings in the
Superintendent’s office. Flower containers shall
be standard, sold and installed by the City at
cost. Standard container sold only by the City.
All flower receptacles and containers that have
deteriorated and lost their structural integrity
to the point of not being able to be turned over
so that the bottom of the flower container
covers the hole of the receptacle, maybe
condemned as a hazard and removed by the city.
Ground Level
Flowers
No artificial or manmade flowers shall be
allowed in ground level flower containers or
allowed to be set or laid on the ground in the
cemetery from October 15th through May 15th with
the exception of holiday decorations. Ground
level, holiday grave decorations shall be
allowed three days before and three days after
the holiday. Christmas decorations are allowed
from December 15th through the first weeks of
the New Year.
Holidays
Holiday flowers and decorations will be allowed
3 days before and 3 days after the holiday.
Christmas flowers and decorations are not
allowed before December 15th and will be removed
1 week after the New Year.
General
Information
- Non-conforming flower containers will be
removed and taken to the City landfill.
- Glass containers will not be allowed.
- Live plants will be allowed only in
standard City-installed flower containers.
- Driving metal, wood, wire, large nails
or posts in the ground will not be allowed.
