Cemetery Management in Charge of Funeral
All funerals upon reaching the cemetery shall be under the supervision of the cemetery management or their appointees. The City reserves the right to insist on a minimum of twelve working hours notice before any interment and at least one week’s notice prior to disinterment or removal. The City may refuse to make an interment until a more expedient time if the remains arrive at the cemetery entrance after 4:00 p.m. weekdays or 11:00 a.m. Saturday or if too many funerals arrive at the same hour. The cemetery management also reserves the right to assess an overtime fee to the funeral director.

Cremations
Only one cremains will be allowed in a cremation space. In a full size grave, three cremated remains will be allowed or one full size burial and two cremains. Only two stones will be allowed, one at the head and one at the foot on a traditional size grave.

Lowering Casket
The City of Billings, Mountview Cemetery, Old Billings Cemetery and the landmarks Mausoleum will not allow anyone to lower the casket except its employees, and the casket will not be lowered until all attendees of the service have gone from the immediate area and section.

Monuments

  1. Only one monument shall be erected on each double lot, two graves, which shall be of natural granite not over 42” high including the base, or not under 28” high, and not less than 24” wide, or must be flush with the ground.
  2. All work must be completed as fast as possible under the inspection of the Superintendent, and materials not used must be removed as the work is completed.
  3. All monument footings will be 30”

Transfer of Graves and Lots
No sale or transfer of graves shall be valid without the expressed written consent of the city and endorsed upon such and entered on records by the city.

Pets
Dogs and cats are allowed in the cemetery if they are on a leash, and are kept on the roadways.
