As the City of Billings continues to grow, so
does the need for parks and open space for
recreation, community activities, relaxation and
organized sports. The PRPL Department is
constantly working to develop new parks as well
as upgrade and improve existing park
infrastructure and amenities to provide for
needs of this growing and outdoor oriented
community. Currently the City of Billings
PRPL Department manages over 2,500 acres of
parks and public lands. There are nearly
100 developed park sites of which more than 560
acres are irrigated. In addition, the
department maintains 3 community centers; 14
park shelters; 24 sets of restrooms; 3 swimming
pools; 3 wading pools; 4 spray grounds; 26
tennis courts; a minor league baseball stadium;
batting cages; over 40 multi-use ball fields; a
skate park; and nearly 15 miles of hard surface
bike trails in the Heritage Trail System.
Billings Mountview Cemetery is also managed by
the department.
