Leader: Kathie Burke -
Summer 2006

We will have a full-day adventure open to adults and families. Bring a day pack, lunch, 2 qts. of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, sturdy footwear that can get wet/muddy, rain gear, insect repellent & cap. Meet at 7 am at the K-Mart parking lot on 24th street West by Hardy’s. To keep the cost low, car pools will be used, so bring money for gas to share.

Hike 1: Dinosaurs & Rock Art Sat. June 24th - Hike at the South end of Pryor Mountain range. Search for dinosaur gizzard stones and fossil and mineral signs of the sea that covered this area millions of years ago. “Read” ancient rock carvings called petroglyphs. Explore tipi rings and a natural spring. Several walks and hike will total approximately 4-5 miles

Hike 2: Fantan Lake Area Sat. July 29th - Hike on part of the Beartooth Plateau both on a jeep trail & cross-country. This alpine terrain might be wet, but has magnificent mountain vista! Hike 3: Beartooth Loop National Recreation Area Sat. August 12th - This trail was written up in the December 1994 issue of Backpacker magazine as one of the eight forgotten National Recreation Trails in this counrty.
