Playgroup
Winter-Spring
2007
|
Playgroup is a FREE program open to all
residents with children from newborn through 5
years of age. It is not a drop off
program, but an activity involving both parents
and children. It provides an opportunity
for early childhood aged children to spend
quality time with their primary caregiver(s);
encourages children to observe and to interact
with other young children; exposes them to art,
music, and language-based activities in a novel
play environment; provides parents with an
opportunity to learn from each other; and to
give parents ideas for enriching activities to
use at home with their children.
Playgroup will meet Tuesday and Thursday
mornings, January 2 through May 22, from 9:30
am to 11:00 am. We will gather at
Zimmerman Center, 1801 Virginia Lane, for play,
art, stories, and singing. Please bring a
small, healthy snack and drink for your
child(ren).

Special Events Throughout Winter and Spring |
|
|
|
January 25: Sledding Day-Let it snow, let
it snow, let it snow! Bring your sled, and spend
the morning outside while having fun in the
snow! Afterward, come inside and warm up with
cocoa while we read winter stories. Regular
Playgroup activities will occur inside for those
who choose not to sled. (Feb. 1 will be the
make-up day in the event that there is no snow
on the 25th.) |

February 13: Be My Valentine-Come dressed
in red or pink, and join us for a "love-ly"
morning filled with special activities, stories,
and a "heart-y" snack. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
March 29: Sensory Playground-Stop,
look, and listen! Spend time together
participating in a myriad of hands-on activities
that you can re-create at home to enhance your
child's sensory perception, which positively
affects their learning. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
April 10 and 12: No Playgroup (Holiday break) |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
April 24: Dads' Day-Dads are
ALWAYS welcome at Playgroup, but this is a
special invitation for every father, especially
those who are not usually able to attend, to
take part in all the fun of a regular day at
Playgroup. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
May 22: Trike, Bike and Wagon Fest-Back
by popular demand! Celebrate the last day of the
session by bringing your favorite vehicle to
Playgroup, and take a ride through our obstacle
course. Watch out for the road signs along the
way! We'll have the parking lot blocked off for
this event, so please park along Virginia Lane.
Regular Playgroup activities will occur inside
for those who choose not to ride. |

Event in the Making: We are planning a
trip to a sheep & goat farm in Laurel to be held
on a Monday morning in late April or early May.
As soon as we get a better feel for the end of
"mud season", we will pick a date and provide
more information! |
