Intro to Recreational
GPS |

This session will benefit all regardless of
experience, but would most benefit those wanting
more knowledge for purchasing a new receiver.
Helpful hints for increasing position accuracy
and overall GPS use. Selection of Garmin,
Magellan & Brunton receivers will be available
to try. Individual receiver assistance not
available but take home information provided. |

GPS w/Maps |
| Limit 5 participants per instructor.
This session will provide hands-on individual
assistance using maps with GPS.
Participants will receive a map, grid tool and
handouts which include a copy of class
procedures and practice exercises. Learn
to take coordinate readings from a map and put
it into the receiver and vice-versa. Both
latitude/longitude & UTM coordinate systems
covered. Bring GPS and manual.

Altimeters |
| This class will provide hands-on personal
assistance in proper use of a compass with maps.
Bring your compass - loaners also available.
True north, magnetic north, setting declination
values, and taking and using bearings will all
be covered or practiced. Valuable class
for those who use or plan to use barometric
altimeters. Information provided includes
A to Z of elevation accuracy, GPS & altimeter
values, and topo map variations. |

receiver. Both classroom and outdoor
activity will enhance your knowledge and ability
to get the most from your receiver. Take
